Response to "Youth stuck on video games"

I think the students in higher education stage would spend more time on-line and get higher

tendency of Internet addiction than the students in lower education stage. So their personality

traits, living adjustment and psychological needs are significant different between high-risk

internet addicts and general internet users. As a result, to satisfy the psychological needs is the

strongest motive for Internet in adolescents. I also found out that there is a tendency that the

male students are easier to get internet addiction than the female students, such as in YST,

those who play Warcraft are usually male students. In order to avoid playing too much game, I

think we can solve the problem such as trying to let them get used to single PC game first

because there is a strong relation between on-line games and Internet Addiction Scale. After all,

game should be a good entertainment for people and not become our bad habit.

What does music means to me

I have come to notice that when asked “what sort of things are you interested in?” music is always in one’s response. It has come to make me contemplate whether there exists any single person that is not interested in music or does not enjoy it. I wonder if there is such a thing as a good addiction, because I am addicted to music. Without music, my day is completely empty and boring. I wake up to music, I go to school listening to music, I analyze it in my music theory class, I perform it in the concerts, my own mother was my music teacher when I was little, and after school I practice or rehearse with the orchestra or my chamber group. My life literally revolves around music. But it is making music that means the most to me.

Music is a source of joy, stress, tears, camaraderie and fulfillment for me. Hopefully, I will keep performing or at least be able to listen to music for the rest of my life, because life without music will never be complete.

Reflection

I think my English had improved a lot during this semester, especially writing. Doing blog post is really interesting, it gave us a chance to express our thoughts and not just some normal writing things. Instead of writing, my pronunciation is getting better as well. I gain confidence to speak English and I wish to practice more about this, because the most difficult thing of learning a new language is speaking.

In short, I really enjoy this class and I hope to work with everyone again next semester.

As we all know, to be a good conductor is not easy because it is not just a matter of keeping a steady tempo. In my opinion, a good conductor has to know the music extremely well in order to convey the composer’s idea of the piece. He/She needs to be able to imagine exactly what sound he/she wants and explain it to the orchestra. The conductor of an orchestra also has to be very diplomatic because conflicts and disagreements could erupt during the rehearsal process. In short, a good conductor is someone who gives the orchestra liberty but also has his/her ideas about what they want to do.

In this video, the Gustavo Dudamel’s great talent as a conductor really impressed me a lot, because it is not easy to gain such great achievements at this young age. I think he has all the strengths that are indicated above. His passionate conducting style influenced the orchestra members to play professionally.

To sum up, we cannot consider one’s achievement by his/her age.

What does music makes me feel?

This is my second blog post homework for my English class so I would like to share a piece of music to everyone.

Although this piece might sounds boring to some people because it is just an ordinary melody, I still want to share it instead of posting some game music pieces that might be more interesting.

To tell the truth, I did not know the name of this song because I downloaded it from someone’s blog. The owner of that blog used this song to be his background music.

The reason why I like this song is, not only because its melody is pleasant to ear, but it makes me feel comfortable. To myself, the melody is like the waves licking the ship’s hull and it can ease my nerves. That is why I always listen to this piece when I am having trouble falling asleep; I suggest anyone who is sleepless should give it a try.

I , Robot

Does anyone likes to read science fiction or have the interest of robots? This is my favorite robot named Asimo. He (I like to consider it as a little boy) was created by Honda. His name is very similar to Isaac Asimov, who is considered as one of the greatest science fiction writers in the world. Isaac Asimov's Foundation series and the Robot series create a future history that makes me interested in robots. It is amazing that robots can act like humans, especially runing.Because it is difficult to keep the balance, even a baby can easily walk better than a robot. I am looking forward to the future development in technology, hoping that someday in my life I can see a real humanoid robot with my own eyes.
